SCRIPT: «My name is ______ and I am a constituent in Precinct __. I support voting centers because everyone deserves the right to vote and this is a great opportunity to make sure we are serving more Harris County voters. Please support voting centers for Harris County!»
Tips for speaking:
***Personalize your testimony. Talk about how great it is to vote and how everyone should be able to. Discuss how expanding locations can expand voter access based on you or people you know.
***Outline the reasons you support the centers. Democracy is great. Voting is sacred!
***Point out clearly that there is plenty of time to implement these centers, we have the knowledge to do so, and it is the right thing to do.
Voting centers allow for voters to vote at any of a wide variety of locations around Harris County during early voting and on election day. The current county clerk is interested in rolling out voting centers for the 2020 Election, leaving plenty of time for transition and helping us have an election where more people’s perspectives and input are valued as they should be.
Now’s your chance to stand up for electoral integrity by making sure that everyone- no matter where they live, where they work, or what their lives entail- have more opportunities to get to the polls than ever before with voting centers.
